Sphere, “The Wizard of Oz”

Next up in Las Vegas is "The Wizard of Oz" at the Sphere.

Sphere is a massive, spherical, next-generation entertainment venue that opened in Las Vegas.

The interior is covered with a dome-shaped, ultra-high-resolution LED display, creating a space that completely immerses the audience in video and sound.

It’s less about “watching a movie” and more about an experience of being enveloped by the space.

The image breaks free from the confines of the screen, and everything within your field of vision becomes part of the story.

I loved the original *The Wonderful Wizard of Oz* when I was in kindergarten, and I watched it about 100 times.

I remember wondering back then, “What kind of scenery lies beyond this world?”

And now I'm stepping into that world!

It stirs not only your sense of sight but also your physical senses.

The sound resonates in three dimensions, and the entire space vibrates.

In fact, during the tornado scene, the seats vibrate, wind blows, flashes of lightning streak across the sky, and leaves swirl through the air.

Even though it’s a video, you feel as if you’re being thrown right into the story, body and all.

It was also memorable how the audience spontaneously broke into applause.

During the magical scenes, snow-like effects fall, and

In the scene where apples fall from the tree, light, apple-shaped props float down into the audience.

The moment when video expands to include the sense of touch.

A classic film from 1939 is brought to life once again through cutting-edge visual technology.

It feels less like a simple remaster and more like a complete reconstruction.

It was an experience of actually stepping into the world I had imagined as a child, now that I’m an adult.
