Together with Professor Black Lab—who is both a university professor and a comedian—we spent the entire
morning and afternoon conducting experiments on wind power!

■Let's Make Wind Turbine Blades
First, let's build a model of how a wind turbine works.
The key component of a wind turbine is the blade.
What materials should I use, and what shape should I make them? A large feather made by combining
several pieces of paper.
A feather made by combining matchsticks and colorful wooden sticks.
A feather made by cutting slits in a paper plate…

We experimented with different blade designs to see which ones would spin well and generate power efficiently—we’d make adjustments to![]()
the blades, check if they could generate power,
and then make more adjustments…

Through trial and error, we worked toward developing blades capable of generating a steady flow of electricity.
