- [Media] KMD Comprehensive Agreement with Kaiyo Town (Tokushima Shimbun)
Regarding the comprehensive agreement between Kaiyo Town and KMD. It seems the Tokushima Shimbun also ran a story on it. While I was having breakfast at my lodging, the owner brought me the newspaper and asked, “Is this you?”
This is a challenge in which universities and local communities collaborate to jointly shape the future of the local community through a "half-academic, half-community" approach.
Kaiyo Town possesses irreplaceable local resources, including beautiful natural scenery, a rich traditional culture, and a warm, close-knit community. At the same time, it faces common challenges shared by many regional cities, such as population decline and the need to revitalize local industries. We aim to take on the challenge of creating an innovative community by leveraging KMD’s expertise in digital technology and creative thinking.
Initiatives such as citizen-participatory policy-making and the creation of community digital archives through collaboration between schools and libraries are already underway. A key feature of these projects is the use of generative AI. By incorporating generative AI into learning activities and policy-making processes, these initiatives open up new possibilities for transforming educational and administrative settings into more effective and creative environments.
Taking this agreement as an opportunity, KMD students and researchers will visit Kaiyo Town and work hard to build a new model for regional revitalization by pooling our ideas with the people of Kaiyo Town.
