Alumni-Produced Film “Including the End”

Details have been released about a movie produced by Seita, a KMD PoliPro graduate (*^^*)

The film stars Yosuke Asari, with a screenplay by Yoshimoto comedian Okocha and directed by Toshihiko Tanaka, who won the Grand Prize at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

I even got a message saying that this movie is based on the research Seita-kun did for his master's thesis! I'm so happy!

As I recall, while Seita-kun was a student, he visited Nagasaki with his classmates as part of his research activities.

Let's get together at Snack Nanako soon to talk about movies♪

■ Created in Collaboration with Nagasaki’s Culture and Community

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

In this film, we are collaborating with local communities to bring the project to life, including the portrayal of Nagasaki’s traditional “Seirei Nagashi” festival and filming on the Goto Islands.

On August 15, we filmed a key scene for this film featuring “Seirei Nagashi,” one of Nagasaki’s most representative traditional events, with the cooperation of Nagasaki City, the Nagasaki Police Station, and the citizens of Nagasaki.

Our goal is to collaborate with the local community to bring stories deeply rooted in Nagasaki’s culture and way of life to life on screen and share them with audiences in Japan and around the world.

Producer's Comments

In Nagasaki, time flows in a way that is unique even within Japan.

It means that this is a city where a culture of prayer is an integral part of everyday life.

A cemetery halfway up the hill, the road leading to the harbor, the church bells, August 9, and the Obon festival.

In Nagasaki, the act of "saying goodbye to the deceased" is not a special occasion, but rather a natural part of daily life.

This culture is not something preserved as a thing of the past; it is a culture that is still alive today.

Nagasaki has long been known around the world as a city that promotes peace.

This work explores another question that stems from that line of thought.

It is a question about how people live, how they bid farewell to others, and how they pass down memories.

The tradition of the “Spirit Floating” festival embodies a culture of sending off the departed that is not defined solely by sadness or parting.

This film is intended to introduce that culture to Japan and the rest of the world.

This is a video project aimed at preserving Nagasaki’s landscapes, culture, and views on life and death for future generations.

And we hope this will be a film that we create together with the people of Nagasaki.
