On Saturday, November 25, we held the event “~Fallen Leaves Are Treasures~ Let’s Collect Fallen Leaves to Make Stained Glass and Compost” 🍂 We were joined by special guest Shiho Mako, a nature game instructor.

There are tons of fallen leaves in Ark's garden! Let's rake them up—or pick them up by hand—and put them in the compost bin!

By letting them decompose in the compost, you end up with nutrient-rich fertilizer. After gathering the fallen
leaves, take some time to observe them closely.
Leaves with holes, interesting-looking leaves, leaves that look like faces, your favorite leaves…
Take a good look at all the different kinds of leaves, and collect the ones you like best.

After collecting leaves, it's finally time to make stained glass.

Which parts of the collected leaves should we use? (Some? All? Leave gaps??)
Whether focusing on color or paying attention to the backside of the stained glass, each piece was created with the artist’s personal touch.

Finally, we stuck it on the window and admired it together. When the light hit it, it looked completely different, didn’t it?

The next GREENWORKSHOP will be held on Saturday, December 10: “Let’s Learn About Japanese Annual Events, Part 2: Let’s Make New Year’s Decorations.” We hope you’ll join us! 🎍
