General Meeting of the Bipartisan Parliamentary League on ICT in Education

General Meeting of the Bipartisan Parliamentary League on ICT in Education. This was the first general meeting since Secretary-General Moriyama assumed the position of Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

As we approached the renewal of our GIGA devices, the biggest challenge was how to cover the costs, but the creation of a fund was approved as part of the supplemental budget.

A fund (for five years) will be established in each prefecture, and for the time being, the necessary expenses for renewals through fiscal year Reiwa 7 (approximately 70 percent) will be budgeted.

The unit price of GIGA devices has increased by 10,000 yen (to 55,000 yen per unit). A 15% reserve of spare units has been set aside to address potential malfunctions.

Chairman Endo mentioned that Minister Moriyama had been very persistent in this matter, and I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and all those involved.

Learning of Tomorrow also collaborated with the Bipartisan Parliamentary League for Education ICT, working together to convey the views of mayors and superintendents of education from across the country.

According to documents from the Digital Agency, it appears that the proposal from the Learning of Tomorrow Association’s GIGA Working Group has been incorporated into the supplemental budget, for which I am very grateful.
