Kickoff Event: “The World in Our Minds”

"The World in Our Minds," the kickoff event for the Neurodiversity Project. Thank you to everyone who came out!

A future in which every individual, with their own unique characteristics and personalities, uses technology to expand their personal capabilities, increase society’s tolerance for diversity, and enable everyone to thrive as their true selves.

Driven by the feeling that we needed to take action now, when we actually put out the call, a wide range of Japan’s leading universities, research institutes, and companies began joining us one after another, and the initiative has grown into a movement far larger than we ever anticipated.

I received a great deal of positive feedback regarding the next steps, and I truly came to appreciate the sheer magnitude and value of having Japan’s top researchers gathered in one place.

I was once again reminded that the use of technology to design individually optimized physical, environmental, and relational frameworks is a crucial perspective for realizing a neurodiverse society.

Starting tomorrow, we'll begin discussing the next steps.

We hope to continue working with even more of you in the future.

    After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
    He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
    His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
