“BuddhaBot,” a Buddhist conversational AI

"BuddhaBot" is a Buddhist conversational AI that uses machine learning to study Buddhist scriptures and provides answers to personal concerns and social issues from a Buddhist perspective.

BuddhaBot has evolved even further! They’re called “Shinran Bot” and “Asanga Bot.”

It is reported that, by utilizing AR, users can now communicate with the Buddhist Saint Bot not only through text-based conversations but also through visual and auditory means.

The project is being led by Professor Seiji Kumagai of Kyoto University and Terabath.

Believe it or not, I hear they managed to finish development just in time for Chomorrow! Professor Kumagai, I’m so grateful—I’m truly moved.

So, starting tomorrow on Chomorrow, you’ll be able to try out the Buddha Bot, Shinran Bot, and Vasubandhu Bot!

"We plan to continue developing conversational AI models based on philosophers and saints who have shaped human history, and to gradually recreate a wealth of traditional knowledge in the digital space," the company said.

    After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative.     He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
    His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
