On Saturday, August 26, we held the event “~‘Gifts from the Garden’: Let’s Look at Plants Through the Eyes of the Heart~ Let’s Make Bottle Lights Using Plants from Ark.” *We were honored to welcome lighting designer Yasuhito Genma as a special guest.

Before making bottle lights, I took care of the cotton plants I sowed in May.
Did you happen to notice the cotton flowers blooming?

After taking a walk around the garden to look at the flowers, we went back inside to make bottle lanterns.
My usual room is transformed into a somewhat mysterious space, illuminated by lights and lamps made from various materials.

What kind of bottle light should I make?
If you put too many plants in there, they won't cast any shadows, and it won't look very interesting when viewed in a dark place… right?
I created lamps by combining various stickers to tell unique stories with each one.

Finally, we all held a light presentation together.
There were so many ways to enjoy it—whether by looking at the shadows or at the bottle lights themselves!

The next GREENWORKSHOP will be held on September 23: “Let’s Learn About Traditional Japanese Festivals (Part 1): Let’s Go Find Ark’s Seven Autumn Herbs.” We hope you’ll join us!
