[Announcement] “Will Generative AI Change English Education in Japan?”

For the online symposium on Friday, September 29, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Toshiyuki Kanemaru, Associate Professor at the Center for International Academic Language Education, affiliated with the Graduate School of International Higher Education at Kyoto University.

AI technologies that handle language—such as “ChatGPT”—are evolving at a remarkable pace, and the way we communicate is changing significantly as a result. With the widespread adoption of highly accurate AI-powered automatic translation tools, many people are likely wondering whether learning foreign languages will become unnecessary in the future.

How will generative AI impact English education in Japan? Will English language learning require a fundamental reevaluation? How will the approach to English reskilling for working professionals change? We will hear from Mr. Kanemaru, who is conducting research on the relationship between generative AI and English education. We hope you will join us.
