[Report] Part 2 of the 126th Session: “The Key Points Are ‘Having Choices,’ ‘Broad-Mindedness and Tolerance,’ and ‘Gentle ‘Why?!’”

On June 7, 2023, Learning of Tomorrow hosted an online symposium titled “Implementing Inclusive Education: What Can Be Done in Regular Classrooms Right Now,” featuring Shingo Aoyama, Associate Professor in the Department of Child Studies, Faculty of Human Life Studies, at Notre Dame Seishin Women’s University, and Director of the Center for Inclusive Education Research.

In the first half of the symposium, Mr. Aoyama explained the definition of “inclusive education” and then proposed initiatives that can be implemented in regular classrooms to achieve it. Drawing on numerous examples from schools already implementing such practices, he outlined the direction that “inclusive education” in Japan should take.

In the second half, we held a Q&A session that incorporated questions from the audience.

Here's a look at what happened in the second half.
