To all the award winners,

Congratulations!

And congratulations on the 20th anniversary of the MM Research Institute Grand Prize.

Jun Murai, Chair of the Judging Committee, offered his remarks in light of the changes that have taken place in the ICT field over the past 20 years.

"The pandemic has transformed today's children from 'digital natives' into 'natives of digital life.' Receiving this award this year comes at a pivotal moment in the ICT field."

If you keep at it, you'll be able to see how it changes over time.

This was my first time serving as a judge.

Although evaluation criteria such as reliability, innovation, originality, and marketability had been established,

Personally, when selecting award winners, I always try to take into account “what symbolizes the era” and “the social impact the award will have on other fields.”

In that regard, I am confident that all of the award-winning products and services recognized this year are leading the way toward the future in their respective industries.

Furthermore, the recent introduction of the new D&I Award reflects our current era’s commitment to building a society that respects diversity; at the same time, I believe that this kind of flexibility in establishing awards is a hallmark of the rapidly evolving ICT sector.

With the advent of generative AI—which is said to be bringing about changes on a scale comparable to the Industrial Revolution—I look forward to seeing the continued emergence of innovative and sustainable new services and products that break free from conventional wisdom (*^^*)

    After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
    He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
    His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
