- [May 10 Event] “Why Inclusive Education Matters: Building Inclusive Schools and Societies”
The theme of this week’s Learning of Tomorrow Online Symposium is inclusive education. We are pleased to welcome Ms. Akina Noguchi, a board member of the General Incorporated Association UNIVA.
Since the adoption of the “Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities,” various discussions and educational practices related to inclusive education have been taking place in Japan as well.
Following a recommendation issued by the United Nations last year, we’ve been hearing the term “inclusive education” more often.
Mr. Noguchi, who has been actively involved in a wide range of activities—including providing direct support to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, conducting training for educators and other adults involved in their care, and developing educational materials and programs—will speak about what is essential for creating an environment that embraces and recognizes diversity and individuality, and fosters coexistence. We hope you will join us.
