Learning of Tomorrow

2023.03.07
[March 8] “The Spread of Esports in Japan and School Education”

This week, instead of last week, the Learning of Tomorrow Online Symposium will be held back-to-back today and tomorrow.

As we mentioned the other day, today we are pleased to welcome Professor Yutaka Matsuo from the University of Tokyo to discuss “How Will Education Change with the Evolution of AI?”

Tomorrow, we will welcome Hiroaki Hamamura, Vice President of the Japan Esports Federation, to speak on "The Spread of Esports in Japan and School Education."

The market for esports—which views gaming as a competitive sport—has been growing year by year, and it is reported that the domestic esports market in 2021 grew to 7.84 billion yen compared to the previous year. Against this backdrop, there is a growing trend of incorporating esports into support programs for children who are not attending school or who are socially withdrawn.

He will discuss the various possibilities regarding the extent to which esports can be utilized in Japan’s school education system.

We hope you'll join us today and tomorrow.
