- Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology / Meeting on Digital Textbooks
A meeting at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) regarding digital textbooks. Since this was the final session and it was designated as an open discussion, I proposed conducting a survey of the current situation, formulating an action plan, and pursuing cutting-edge development.
It’s been three years since various initiatives—including programming education—were introduced. Let’s conduct a new survey on how they’re actually being used and make the results public!
Let’s draw up an action plan that clearly outlines how and when we’ll address the issues that have come up so far! Just as I was starting to say something about what we should do with the certification exam, keeping in mind the schedule for the next revision… Zoom suddenly crashed, so I thought maybe I’d blurted out something I shouldn’t have and got kicked out of the call ^^;
And while I’d already be lost without image-generating AI and ChatGPT, we’re now in an era where ChatGPT can help you score 77 points on the National Center Test for University Admissions, pass the bar exam, and get into an MBA program. The public discourse has shifted to the idea that what matters isn’t the ability to master digital technology, but the ability to master AI.We’ve entered a phase where we’re discussing “AI textbooks” rather than “digital textbooks.” I hope education doesn’t get left behind once again.
Take this app, for example! You can have conversations with historical figures. Is this inquiry-based learning in the Socratic method? It's fun! I'd like to develop a version in Japanese.
