"Digital citizenship education" is a field that is gaining momentum in Europe and the United States. In Japan, where the "one device per student" initiative has been realized under the GIGA School Initiative, some local governments have begun implementing it; however, digital citizenship education is also being promoted not only in school education but also in the field of community education.

"Rather than simply hammering home the dangers of the internet, it is important to move toward a form of learning that enables students to actively shape society by acquiring digital skills and ways of thinking through participatory learning and dialogue.“I believe digital citizenship will increasingly become a topic of discussion throughout society as a whole,” says Professor Jun Sakamoto of Hosei University. He will speak with us about the importance of digital citizenship education and his efforts to promote it. We hope you will join us.
