- [Announcement] “Digital Citizenship Education: What Does It Mean to Become a Good Digital Citizen Who Uses ICT Positively?”
For the online symposium on Thursday, November 17, we are pleased to welcome Professor Shun Sakamoto from the School of Career Design at Hosei University.
"Digital citizenship education" is gaining traction in Europe and the United States. In Japan, where the "one device per student" initiative has been implemented under the GIGA School Initiative, some local governments have begun introducing it; however, digital citizenship education is also being promoted not only in school education but also in the field of community education.
"Rather than simply drilling home the dangers of the internet, it is important to move toward a form of learning where students actively shape society by acquiring digital skills and ways of thinking through participatory learning and dialogue.“I believe digital citizenship will increasingly become a topic of discussion throughout society,” says Mr. Sakamoto. He will speak with us about the importance of digital citizenship education and his efforts to promote its widespread adoption. We hope you will join us.
