- [Press Release] Creating Emotional Anchor Points for Local Children: B Lab Establishes New Hub, “B Lab Kaiyo-cho,” at the Southernmost Tip of Tokushima Prefecture!

B Lab (Innovation Research Institute at iU Professional University of Information Management and Innovation; Director: Nanako Ishido; hereinafter “B Lab”) will establish “B Lab Kaiyo Town” in Kaiyo Town, located at the southernmost tip of Tokushima Prefecture.Utilizing facilities in Kaiyo Town, B Lab will work to create a hub for community interaction. One of these hubs is a 150-year-old traditional Japanese house located in the town center. Since it is adjacent to the only prefectural high school in the district as well as local elementary and junior high schools, B Lab plans to create opportunities for local children to gather and connect with their community, society, and the world. We are committed to creating an emotional anchor point for local children and a place that serves as a gateway to a “nostalgic future” for the community’s adults.
A Message from Mr. Takuya Takahata of the General Incorporated Association Mirai no Gakko
Takuya Takahata, Representative Director of the General Incorporated Association Mirai no Gakko, has been appointed as the B Lab organizer for Kaiyo Town. Below is a message from Mr. Takahata.
My name is Takuya Takahata, and I have been appointed as the organizer for B Lab in Kaiyo Town. I have been involved in initiatives to enhance the appeal of local education, including designing curricula for outreach classes and inquiry-based learning, as well as projects to revitalize high schools.Tokushima Prefecture has introduced Japan’s first “Dual School System,” implementing a new form of education that bridges urban and rural areas. In addition, as part of the GIGA School initiative, the prefecture is also working on “satellite schools” that utilize remote instruction.
Through this collaboration with B Lab, I am excited to help create a space where people from both within and outside the community can connect across generations and co-create the future. I hope we can build this together with everyone’s ideas and support, so I look forward to your continued cooperation.
Overview of B Lab
"B Lab"—an acronym for "Beyond, Borderless, Breakthrough"—is a participatory platform that, while billed as a research institute, connects universities, research institutions, communities, and talent around the world to fuse the unique skills and insights of many people and create new technologies, services, content, businesses, and societies. While its scope is broad—encompassing technology development, solving social issues, and creating new services—the common thread is social implementation and the idea of building things together. Everyone—fathers, mothers, aunts, and children—is a researcher. We become “Lifelong Seekers” and carry a second researcher’s business card.Social, open, and participatory, the platform connects everyone—including users—to build a new society. It aims to match challenges, ideas, technologies, funding, skills, and people, enabling everyone to collaborate in creating an exciting future—from small-scale innovations to large-scale creations.
