- [Announcement] “The Challenge of Diversifying Learning: What Is the Wao High School Approach to Learning, Centered on ‘Discussion and Dialogue’?”
We will be welcoming Mr. Ushio Yamamoto, principal of Wao High School, to our online symposium on Wednesday, October 19.
WAO Corporation, which operates cram schools such as “Nokai Center” and “Individual Tutoring Axis” across all 47 prefectures in Japan, opened “WAO High School” in April 2021—a wide-area correspondence high school where students can earn a high school diploma.Leveraging over 40 years of experience in private education, the school offers original learning content—including general subjects, liberal arts and inquiry courses, and optional programs. With the goal of expanding students’ future possibilities by combining their interests with high school studies, the program allows students to freely design their learning in terms of location, time, and content.
"Unlike traditional correspondence high schools, Wao High School fosters interactive learning and offers a new educational experience. We believe it will bring about a transformation in an educational system that has seen little change for 100 years," says Principal Ushio Yamamoto. He will speak about Wao High School’s initiatives and future educational vision. We hope you will join us.
