#Kids Researcher's Log

On Sunday, July 3, we held the “STEAM Workshop: Measure and Create—LED Edition” (Program provided by michica 〈#michicajp〉 / Space design by #Fukasawa Art Laboratory).

The world of electricity right at everyone's fingertips.

Let's take a peek into the world of electricity using a tester (digital multimeter)!

After carefully examining the parts I’ll be using today,

I'll assemble the circuit with concentration and care.

What color did everyone's LED light up?

If I replace one of the three components—the resistor—what will happen to the LED?

I wonder what the difference is?

I used a tester to measure the readings and observed the differences in how they glowed.

After you've built the second circuit, set the multimeter to the continuity test mode (it beeps when it detects a current) and try to find something that conducts electricity!

With a tester in hand, I explored the venue’s vast array of materials and tools to see which ones made sounds.

Finally, a circuit that lights up a full-color LED, which uses quite a few components

We'll build circuits by combining various components—such as semi-fixed resistors, which take a little practice to insert into a breadboard, and jumper wires of different lengths.

Try creating your own favorite colors using a switch and a semi-fixed resistor

I hope you’ll enjoy creating your own projects at home by combining the materials from your souvenir with the circuit you designed yourself.

◯ Registration is now open for the “Measure and Create” program for October–December!
