Education × SDGs Symposium

Today, we’re holding this online symposium. As part of the Super SDGs Lab’s activities, we’ll be developing and promoting a curriculum for inquiry-based learning that uses technology to solve social issues.

Next week, we will hold a workshop on how to conduct “Future Workshops.”Issues in a wide range of fields—including population decline, an aging population, aging infrastructure, and global warming—are expected to become apparent around 2050. The “Future Workshop” is a program that uses “Future Charts” to predict the impact of these issues on a municipality-by-municipality basis, allowing participants to assume the role of a mayor in the year 2050 and develop policy proposals. This workshop, which provides insights for identifying social issues, is being utilized in various settings nationwide, including educational institutions and training programs for municipal employees. We will be holding a “Future Workshop Facilitation Course” to provide lectures on how to organize and facilitate these workshops for teachers and education professionals.

And after gaining a deeper understanding of social issues, participants will take part in the “Technology Workshop: Robo Blocks Beginner’s Course.” With Robo Blocks, you can not only make Pepper move and speak but also learn a wide range of programming concepts using 120 different types of blocks, including conversation, movement, display output, sound playback, touch sensors, variables, lists, and block definitions. In this workshop, you’ll get hands-on experience with Robo Blocks hands-on and experience the joy of controlling Pepper. We will also discuss the value of learning to program and the significance of utilizing robots in society, and present examples of problem-solving-based learning that incorporates Pepper.

We’ve already received a large number of applications, but please feel free to join us if you’re interested.
