We held the third session of “Let’s Program the Packing Process!” (This series is a program jointly developed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. and CANVAS. It consists of six sessions in total: the first half, “Let’s Design Our Own Factory!” and the second half, “Let’s Create Movements for Robots Working in the Factory!”)

We integrated a packaging system into the factory system we built last time.
We'll create that motion using a program and operate the actual machinery currently in use at the Kawasaki factory.

■Off to Kawasaki Robostage!
Come check out our showroom, where you can see, touch, and experience Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ cutting-edge robotics technology and expertise!
What kinds of robots are there?
There was also duAro, a robot that draws caricatures—a type of "arm robot" that everyone is already familiar with.

■ Programming the packaging process using an actual machine
Today we have a special opportunity to use the actual machines that are in use at the factory.
How should we arrange the boxes on a single pallet (a platform for loading cargo)? Let's write the program.

The box is a 30-mm cube.
Arrange them neatly, keeping in mind the direction in which the arms open.
Stacking boxes in a long, narrow line, or
Try arranging them in two rows diagonally, or
The feeling of, “I’d love to stack boxes like this!”
It served as an opportunity for me to take on a slightly challenging programming project.

Even when stacking shapes in the same way, using repetition created different programs, didn't it?

Today marks the halfway point
Next month's theme is "Let's Program a Robot to Move!"
Today, everyone (humans) gave commands to the robots to move, but I’d like to talk about the “signals” that robots use to trigger each other’s movements.
See you again next month!
