#Kids Researcher's Log 5/29 (Sun) #Online Workshop
#Secret Hideout at Our Place held the nature program "Online Wildlife Exploration Team" (Program provided by Hiroshi Sasaki #Captain Sasaki).

A hot Sunday for May.
Together with Captain Sasaki, we visited the tidal flat near Myoden Station on the Tozai Line and
Connecting all the kids' homes online, and
We’re setting off on an expedition to explore the wildlife living in the tidal flats.
This is the spot where the ocean and the river meet.
You can encounter both marine and freshwater creatures.
The mudflats are a crab paradise!!!
It's full of crab burrows.
Tiny little crabs were waving their claws in the air and dancing (though they were too small for the kids to see…)
We also came across plenty of larger crabs, such as the Benkei crab, the Ashihara crab, and the Yamato osagani, and
Someone even saw a crab walking upright! So they don't just walk sideways, huh?
And there's even a shocking scene of a crab eating another crab…!!!
One team member even told me, “This is what left the biggest impression on me!”
I also encountered the rare scissor shrimp—a species that lives only in mudflats and is at risk of extinction—on several occasions.
It looks like a crayfish or a shrimp.
There were mysterious lines left behind on shells called "Uminina" and on the tracks where the Uminina had walked (?)…
The team members also drew lots of sketches, and
A variety of questions were also directed at the captain.
Right in our immediate neighborhood, a wide variety of living creatures and nature coexist with us in this way.

Chairperson, CANVASAfter graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
