"Seaside Creature Exploration Team" (Elementary School Class) in Takeshiba
We held a nature program!
Program presented by: #Hiroshi Sasaki (Professional Naturalist)
https://www.canvas.ws/kenkyujo/report/20220522intakeshiba.php

Set off on a wildlife adventure with Captain Sasaki, the nature observation expert!
This time, the setting is the beach. We went to Odaiba Park, which is quite close to Takeshiba.
I wonder what kinds of creatures live along the Tokyo coast?
What does it smell like? What kind of wind is blowing?
Let's fully experience the nature that's right in our backyard.
■Let's set off with our bingo cards!
The smell of the ocean, jellyfish, fish leaping out of the water, crab holes, cold things, dragonflies, the sound of the waves, seabirds, dragonflies, (something I think is) special
Whenever I come across these, I'll stick a sticker on them.
I wonder if I'll get a bingo.

■The animal that eats jellyfish is a type of snake…
A transparent object on the shoreline—it’s actually a jellyfish!
Since moon jellyfish aren't poisonous, I'm going to touch one. (Never touch the ones with red markings!)
Instead of a bucket relay, we did a jellyfish relay.

The one that eats this jellyfish is… a turtle!
Some turtles die after mistaking jellyfish for plastic bags and eating them.
Oh! A dragonfly!
This is a silver dragonfly. It can fly really fast.
How many kilograms do you think it is? Believe it or not… 100 kilograms!
The dragonfly's body temperature at that moment was 50 degrees. That's a body temperature that would kill a human.
Captain Sasaki’s boundless knowledge of living things.
It's not just kids—adults are hooked, too.

■What were everyone's special moments?
"I was shocked to find that the moth eggs I'd discovered were round."
"Cup Noodles"
"Cup Noodles"
"Cup Noodles"
???
(That's not a typo. lol)

The moment Captain Sasaki's eyes sparkled the most.
It was when I found a building (like a cup noodle).
I hear that some of them can be as long as 15 meters, but
The one I found this time was about 1 meter long.
It was wrapped around an enoki tree.
When I peeled it off the tree to examine it, it broke in two…
But it's okay. No matter how many pieces a Kougai snail is cut into, a head will sprout from each piece, and it can survive.
It's truly a mysterious creature.
It’s also featured in Captain Sasaki’s “#Mystery Creature Encyclopedia,” so be sure to check it out!
There probably aren't any living things around here.
I'm sure there are living things even in places like that.
If you look really, really closely… there's…
Turn everyone's daily life into a wildlife adventure.

Next month, we'll be exploring physical expression with Mikolabo! Will we travel to space by moving our bodies?!
I look forward to meeting you.
