"Making Scented Remedies" (Elementary School Class) in Takeshiba

https://www.canvas.ws/kenkyujo/report/20220417intakeshiba.php

We held an art program! Program provided by Kabu (Fukasawa Art Institute, Greening Research Lab)

Formulating medicine using the scents of herbs.

What kind of medicine is it? Who is it for?

■From a Single Leaf

The ingredient in the medicine that makes it smell good is a leaf!?

This leaf is a little special. Let's touch it and smell it to see what makes it so special.

How was it? What did you think?

We all smelled the same leaf, but everyone experienced it differently.

■What kind of medicine would be good to have?

When I smell the medicine…

・For my older brother: Since my older brother plays video games all the time, this is a medicine that will cut down on his gaming time so he’ll play with me instead.

・For moms: A pill to make you beautiful.

・For moms: Medicine to help you stop feeling irritable.

・For myself: Medicine that helps me calm down.

・For myself: A pill that smells like rice and fills me up.

・For Mom: Since Mom gets really cold easily, medicine that keeps her warm. Oh, but medicine that makes her start to like the cold would be nice, too~

・For the family: Medicine that cures hay fever.

・For moms: A remedy with a sweet scent that soothes the mind.

・For the whole family: A medicine with a mysterious scent that makes you feel happy and gentle.

・For everyone in the world: A medicine that makes you feel happy.

And so on.

■Enjoying Herbs

The leaves and flowers I used today are herbs.

I carefully smell each herb one by one.

The smell changes depending on how you tear it.

The scent also changes depending on the combination of herbs.

Ahh, it smells so good. Hey, want to take a whiff? Should I add just a little more of this?

Using Your Nose to Create Things.

Communicating with your nose.

Today was the first session of the year.

The name "Kids Creative Research Institute" includes the word "research."

What does “research” mean?

Over the course of the next year, as we explore a variety of activities—including art, physical expression, science, and programming—

Each and every one of us “feels” something, and we use that as a starting point to “think” and “create.”

Taking the time to carefully explore a single topic in depth.

What kind of research did everyone do today?

I look forward to working with you all this year!

Next month, it’s the “Seaside Creature Exploration Team” at Odaiba Park!

I look forward to meeting you.
