This week’s “Hatenā?” question is, “What kinds of heat can you find in your everyday life?”

(Program provided by: Naoya Man & Shima: Ai)

Let's make three different kinds of thermometers and use various methods to measure temperatures in our daily lives.

(① Plastic Bottle Thermometer, ② Palm Thermometer, ③ Heat Catcher)

First up is the plastic bottle thermometer.

Once you've decided where to measure the temperature, check for any changes at the end.

The second one is a thermometer that uses everyone’s “hands.”

Colder than ice? Hotter? About the same?? How does it compare to a hand warmer…?

We measured and recorded various things while making our own predictions.✎

The third thermometer is one that changes color when it detects a temperature of 40 degrees or higher.

What's 40 degrees like? What kinds of things around you are 40 degrees???

A kotatsu, hand warmers, hot water, coffee…

I investigated the things I expected to change color.

Finally, everyone checked the plastic bottle thermometer we made at the beginning!

Has the memory increased? Or has it decreased?

It might change if I leave it for a longer time, or

Even in the same place, things might change depending on the time of day—morning, afternoon, or night.

It might be fun to try changing up the settings!

Stay tuned for the next Secret Base on Sunday, March 27!
