[Announcement] “Real-World Programming That Captivates in the Digital and STEAM Era: Lessons from the toio Robot”

For the online symposium on Wednesday, December 8, we will be joined by Akie Tanaka, Section Manager of the toio Business Promotion Office at Sony Interactive Entertainment and a developer of “toio.”

"toio" is a robotic toy that can be freely controlled through programming when combined with crafts and building blocks. It has garnered attention as a programming educational tool that "turns play into learning" and has been adopted by elementary and middle schools in several municipalities.

“When children play with ‘toio’—a system that lets them place LEGO bricks and other objects on it and move them freely through programming—they gradually begin to see the world around them from the robot’s perspective and naturally come to understand what the robot is thinking and how it moves.‘Acquiring computational thinking while having fun through the kind of immersive, formative experiences we were captivated by as children will foster the intuitive understanding and confidence that will be essential in the coming era, where robots and AI become our everyday partners,’ says Mr. Tanaka. He will be speaking on the topic, ‘Real-World Programming That Captivates the Imagination in the Digital and STEAM Era: Lessons from the toio Robot.’”

We look forward to your participation.
