[Announcement] “The Role of Schools: Learner-Centered Learning Promoted by Dalton Tokyo Academy”

For the online symposium on Thursday, November 4, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Takayuki Araki, Principal of the Middle and High School Divisions at Dalton Tokyo Academy, who will speak on the topic “The Role of Schools: Learner-Centered Learning Promoted by Dalton Tokyo Academy.”

Dalton Tokyo Academy Middle and High School, which opened in April 2019, implements a learner-centered educational approach centered on “freedom and collaboration,” based on the “Dalton Plan” devised by Helen Parkhurst.

Starting in April 2022, the high school division will begin operations, featuring state-of-the-art facilities, including the STEAM Building—a ZEB (Net Zero Energy Building) that requires no external energy supply(completed in June 2022), which requires no external energy supply; and a high school curriculum that does not divide students into humanities or sciences tracks, allowing each student to create their own schedule. He will discuss these concrete initiatives related to the “Reform of General High School Programs” promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

We hope you'll join us.
