Muroto Abandoned School Aquarium

Muroto Abandoned School Aquarium. The exhibits and spatial design, which make excellent use of the school building, are outstanding.

The vaulting box, the AED cabinet, the fire bucket, the science lab sink—all turned into fish tanks. Even inside the nostalgic overhead projector, fish were gliding about. The sink area was transformed into a touch pool where people could play with the fish.

On the wall hangs a calligraphy piece reading “saba,” written in squid ink. A model skeleton serves as a guide, and in the section where there are no fish, a sign reads “Classes in Progress.” In the large outdoor tank—also known as the 25-meter pool—a large turtle swims leisurely.

Since this is a school, let's all do our part to keep it clean! We've also introduced the "Raku-Raku" system, where we provide cleaning rags to encourage everyone to clean up.

And apparently, 300,000 people have already "arrived for school" at the abandoned school aquarium, where the gong rings every morning at 9:00 a.m. ^^
