- [Report] April: “The Human and the Park”
From
a CANVAS Facebook post*******************************************
In April 2021, for the first session of the fiscal year, we held an art program (provided by the Fukasawa Art Institute)! https://www.canvas.ws/kenkyujo/report/2021417intakeshiba.php

Have you ever heard of stick figures? Today, we're going to use "this" to make a park where stick figures can play together…🏞
?? Some kids said, “I’ve never seen this before!” while others said, “I know what this is! It’s a paper clip!” And then there were those who said, “Oh! It’s modeling wire! I’ve used it before!” This straight-yet-flexible “modeling wire”—which can be bent into all sorts of shapes—is the material we’ll be using this time.
■Let's draw our own stick figures. Stick figures have round heads, don't they? How can we draw them? Once you've drawn your stick figure, why not try making it strike a pose!
Some kids laugh at the silly poses, while others strike poses alongside the stick figures.
I've made all kinds of stick figures~.
■Building a Park. What’s in the park? A slide, swings, a seesaw, a jungle gym, benches, a pond, and goldfish! There are animals, too! Flowers~
Let your imagination run wild as you picture a park… and use modeling clay to create a park full of little figures. How can I connect one piece of clay to another? How can I make the shape I want? Some children quietly keep working on the shape they first discovered.A child carefully builds a tiny slide on a small board. A child meticulously crafts the stick figures’ hairstyles and outfits, down to the finest details. Working intently and silently, occasionally chatting, then returning to silence… Everyone’s stick-figure people and parks spread out across the lab.

I look forward to working with you over the next year and the next three months! I can’t wait to see what kind of moments we’ll create next time…!
