👗Let's discover a new look for your wardrobe👀

"WEAR MIX!!!" *We have posted the video that was sent to participants in advance of the workshop held at the research institute in June 2020 on the report page.
(Guest Instructor: yocco, Costume Designer)

Let’s try a slightly different way of “dressing” using the clothes and fabrics we have at home. Let’s step away from the idea of “how things should be” and move our bodies as we discover new ways to wear clothes together!

~A Message from Yocco to the Children~
Usually, we can only wear our clothes in certain ways, but when we try wearing them differently like this, it’s fun for us—and it’s fun for the clothes, too. Wearing clothes the way you like is part of designing them. By using yourselves as models and wearing your clothes the way you like, you all became designers today. You looked really cool.Right now, even though a lot of clothes are being made around the world, about half of them are thrown away without ever being worn by anyone. It’s said that in Japan alone, this amounts to 1 million metric tons of waste per year. That’s such a waste.

I think the “new ways to wear clothes” that everyone tried out offer some hints for improving these issues. Please keep coming up with your own fun ways to wear clothes. Have fun dressing up!

■yocco’s Profile
: As a child, she grew up surrounded by fabrics, buttons, and other materials while living alongside her mother, who ran a clothing store. Rather than wearing store-bought clothes, she wore outfits her mother made by hand, and from a young age, she began creating her own felt mascots and dolls, as well as making her own clothes—experiences that shaped her early formative years. After attending her first musical with her mother, she began dreaming of a career in the performing arts—a dream that has continued to this day. She designs costumes for theme parks and events and serves as an instructor at a fashion vocational school. She is the mother of two children. * “It was so much fun to wear clothes and fabrics in new and creative ways!” “I really related to this theme. I think content related to the SDGs would be great for parents, too.” These are some of the comments we received from parents.
