On March 3, 2021, Learning of Tomorrow hosted an online symposium titled “Preparing for ‘What-If’ Disasters with VR/AR: The Role and Potential of IT in Disaster Prevention,” featuring Professor Tomoki Itamiya of the Department of General Education at Kanagawa Dental University’s School of Dentistry.

In the first half of the session, Mr. Itamiya presented case studies on the use of the “AR Disaster Simulation App Disaster Scope®” and the “VR Tsunami Driving Simulator” in disaster preparedness training, along with their effectiveness. The second half consisted of a question-and-answer session with the participants. Here is a report on that second half.
