We also heard from Kazumitsu Yoshida in the Netherlands, Masaki Yokoi in China, Tomoko in the U.S., Ayako in Germany, and K in Malaysia about how online learning was implemented overseas during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This book is an attempt to document the struggles of local governments, schools, the private sector, and parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Driven by a strong shared determination to “keep children learning,” many people collaborated across organizational boundaries and did their very best through a process of trial and error. We hope this book will contribute to the development of education in the post-COVID era.

Please note that the discussions from the online symposium featured here reflect the two-way exchanges with the approximately 4,000 participants in total, and this book was created through co-creation with all of you. I’d like to take this opportunity to once again express my gratitude to all the speakers and everyone who tuned in!Thank you also to Takemura-san, Hōgetsu-san, and Mio-chan for coordinating the international interviews! And as always, thank you to the members of the Learning of Tomorrow Association who prepared for the weekly symposiums♪ If you found the online symposiums to be a great source of free, valuable information, please be sure to recommend this book to those in communities still struggling without ICT implementation!

None of the people featured in this book (including me, of course!) will receive any compensation or royalties for this project (*^^*). We hope to promote good practices by using all of those funds to distribute copies of the book.
