Learning of Tomorrow Online Symposium: “NHK’s Initiatives in Response to School Closures”

At today’s “Learning of Tomorrow Online Lunch Symposium,” we spoke with Takako Nakamura, Editor-in-Chief of NHK E-Tele, about “NHK’s Initiatives in Response to School Closures.” I’ve mentioned before how impressive NHK’s response to school closures has been,
but this time I had the opportunity to hear the full story once again and learn about the philosophy behind it.
I believe
the system of producing programs in collaboration with school teachers and researchers is unique to NHK’s educational programming. That’s precisely why the response was so positive across the board—from teachers, researchers, parents, and children alike.
We discussed the start of simultaneous broadcasts, the future balance between television and online platforms for educational programming,
how to adapt as the nature of education evolves,
the potential for using data to evaluate the effectiveness of online education,
and the question of what role television truly plays—
I asked all the questions I’d been dying to ask (*^^*)
Thank you so much!
I sincerely look forward to the continued growth of E-Tele in the future!
