- Learning of Tomorrow Data × Education Working Group Launches
As the development of school ICT infrastructure is finally gaining momentum, the Learning of Tomorrow Association’s “Data × Education” Working Group was launched with the hope that we can finally begin discussing the intersection of data and education. Participants included Professor Hashida from
RIKEN and the University of Tokyo, Attorney Ochiai, Mr. Yamaguchi from NICT, and Mr. Nakamura, Mr. Koga, and Mr. Miyajima from iU, as well as Section Chief Kato from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Mr. Kikuchi from Learning of Tomorrow.
Based on the “Learning of Tomorrow Data Infrastructure Act”—our adaptation of the Next-Generation Medical Infrastructure Act to the field of education—we discussed possible institutional frameworks for promoting the utilization of
data.
How should we collect data? How should we standardize data formats? How can we ensure
data portability? Where can anonymized processed information be utilized? Which stakeholders
should be involved? And so on.It appears we will move forward on both the pilot
testing and institutional design fronts while collaborating with schools interested in the intersection of
data and education.
