- Super Elementary School
Learning of Tomorrow.
We’ve been gathering feedback on distance learning in various countries for the past few days, and some wonderful initiatives are beginning to emerge in Japan as well.
Shanghai is simultaneously streaming lessons taught by teachers selected by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; however, since filming videos for each individual school and municipality places a heavy burden on those on the ground, the Super Education Association is exploring the possibility of creating a “Super Elementary School” where schools andlocal governments, and companies—to share videos organized by textbook, grade level, and unit—we are discussing the possibility of establishing a “Super Elementary School” through the Learning of Tomorrow Association. This photo was taken when I shared these ideas with Mr. Takaya, Director at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), who has been a key figure in promoting the GIGA School Initiative.
Also on the same day, we interviewed Professor Naoto Okuide, Professor Emeritus at Keio University and a renowned authority on design thinking,
asking him questions such as “What is learning?”, “What is school?”, and “What will post-COVID society look like?” We’ll be releasing the interview soon!
