- [Press Release] Learning of Tomorrow Releases “Draft Procurement Specifications” Toward the Goal of One Device Per Student!
The General Incorporated Association Learning of Tomorrow (Chairman: Hiroshi Komiyama, Chairman of the Mitsubishi Research Institute; http://lot.or.jp/) has presented “Proposed Procurement Specifications” as guidelines for the ICT environment that should be established, based on the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s procurement guidelines and taking into account trends in technological development and standards in overseas educational settings.
Aiming to break free from the situation where Japan ranks at the bottom of the OECD in terms of ICT adoption in schools, the latest government economic stimulus package includes a plan to provide one device per student and establish a network infrastructure by 2023. It is essential to implement this plan accurately and smoothly.
For this reason, Learning of Tomorrow, in accordance with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s (MEXT) procurement guidelines and taking into account trends in technology development and standards in educational settings overseas, has compiled “Draft Procurement Specifications” as guidelines for the ICT environment that should be established, in coordination with MEXT.We hope that procurement officers at local governments, boards of education, and schools will find these specifications useful as a reference when formulating their own procurement specifications. We have also
compiled information on the concept of cloud utilization in education, its benefits, and points to consider; please refer to this as well.
