1. Early Implementation of One Computer or Tablet Per Student

We highly commend the government’s policy of providing “one computer or tablet per student,” which is set to be included in the upcoming economic stimulus package. This is a proposal that the Council for Digital Textbooks and Educational Materials (now Learning of Tomorrow) has been advocating since 2010, alongside the development of internet infrastructure and digital textbooks, and we urge its early implementation.

We should take this as a first step toward quickly moving beyond our status as a “laggard” in the digitization of education. To this end, we should proceed with the following measures in tandem: accurately implementing the recently enacted “Act on the Promotion of Information Technology in School Education”; establishing a cloud-based infrastructure for school IT; developing a market for used devices; and implementing measures to streamline copyright procedures to enhance the availability of educational materials.

2 Pioneering Future-Oriented Education

We must strive to lead the world as a “pioneer” in educational digitization. We should introduce cutting-edge technologies—such as AI
, IoT, big data, VR/AR, and blockchain—into education and reexamine the content, environment, and evaluation of learning, including academic subjects, exams, and schools.
We should design a future learning environment—"Learning of Tomorrow"—that transcends the boundaries of traditional schools, spanning from preschoolers to working adults, and carry out pilot tests, implementation, and institutional reforms.

We must address two key areas—the development of ICT education infrastructure and the creation of cutting-edge AI and IoT education programs—and pursue both efforts to catch up with global standards and to take the lead on the world stage
. As private-sector organizations, we will pool our collective wisdom and take action to promote the digitization of education and pioneer future-oriented education.
