- Japan Game Awards U18 Division Finals
The Japan Game Awards U18 Division Finals.
I served as a judge again this year.
The winner was Hayato Ikegami, a fifth-grader.
Ikegami also won the Silver Prize last year. His victory, achieved by beating out senior high school and middle school students, drew a lot of attention.
However, he wasn’t satisfied with just the Silver Prize!
His presentation began with a declaration that he was aiming for the Gold Prize this year, and he unveiled an idea he had developed after thoroughly rethinking the very essence of what makes a game fun.He reportedly devoted 364 out of 365 days to game development.
And he was awarded the Gold Prize unanimously by the judges. He truly walked the talk.
I was deeply moved by his passion.
While I was amazed by the high caliber of his work last year, I feel that the overall level has risen even further this year. I look forward to seeing what kind of creators will emerge from this program in the future.
Congratulations to all the winners.
And to everyone on the organizing committee, thank you for all your hard work and thank you very much!
