[Press Release] Announcement of the Publication of “Programming Workbook: Developing Logical Thinking Skills,” Under Supervision of Nanako Ishido (Chairperson of CANVAS)

To Members of the Press

Thank you for your continued support.

On September 12, 2019, Gakken Plus Co., Ltd. released the workbook
*"Programming Workbook: Developing Logical Thinking Skills,"* with Nanako Ishido (Chairperson of CANVAS) providing supervision.

With programming set to become a required subject in elementary schools in 2020, many people seem to feel anxious because they do not fully understand the content or purpose of programming education.
This workbook is designed to allow parents and children to enjoy learning programming together from early childhood, without the use of PCs or tablets.
By solving fun problems such as “Let’s teach a robot the steps to make rice dumplings,” children develop logical thinking and creativity while becoming familiar with the computers around them and learning programming concepts such as sequence and branching.
This book provides an opportunity for parents and children to reflect together on “why we learn programming,” helping children approach programming education in elementary school with confidence.

We understand you are very busy, but
we would greatly appreciate it if you could help publicize this book widely through your media outlet, and
