- Invitation to a Celebration Marking the Introduction of the Bill
The “Bill on the Promotion of Information Technology in School Education” is currently under deliberation in this session of the Diet; it has been passed by the House of Representatives and is now before the House of Councillors.
This bill was drafted by the “Parliamentary League for the Promotion of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Education,” a cross-party group of Diet members from both the ruling and opposition parties. In addition to Chairman Toshiaki Endo (Member of the House of Representatives) and Secretary-General Michihiro Ishibashi (Member of the House of Councillors), the group comprises 83 members, including former ministers from both ruling and opposition parties. The Learning of Tomorrow Association is also cooperating as the secretariat.
It originated when the Digital Textbook and Teaching Materials Council (DiTT; now Learning of Tomorrow) proposed the “Enactment of the Act on the Promotion of Information Technology in Education” in June 2015. In response, the parliamentary league decided in October 2016 to draft a bill, and we also participated in the drafting process as private-sector advisors.
We expect that, if enacted, this bill will serve as a driving force for significant progress in the digitization of school education.
Therefore, we are hosting a gathering to celebrate the launch of this bill, with members of the Parliamentary League on Education ICT as our guests of honor.
We look forward to your participation.
