- Digital Textbook and Educational Materials Council (DiTT) Extraordinary General Meeting
Today, the Digital Textbook and Educational Materials Council (DiTT) held an extraordinary general meeting, at which a resolution was passed to merge with Learning of Tomorrow.
Founded eight years ago, DiTT has promoted the adoption of IT (PC and internet infrastructure) primarily in elementary and secondary education.
Through advocacy and lobbying, public awareness campaigns, the promotion of pilot projects, and collaboration with local governments and pioneering educators, DiTT has achieved significant results, including the institutionalization of digital textbooks.
Learning of Tomorrow (LoT), the organization that will succeed DiTT, will continue and further develop all of DiTT’s activities, while also undertaking the following initiatives:
1. Improving educational environments across all age groups—from early childhood education through higher education and lifelong learning—not limited to elementary and secondary education.
2. Promoting the use of cutting-edge technologies in education—such as AI, IoT, big data, VR/AR, and blockchain—following the adoption of IT and smart technologies.
3. Designing hybrid (in-person + online) learning environments that transcend the boundaries of schools and integrate cram schools, workplaces, and homes.
4. Developing IT and AI talent sought by industry and strengthening IT training for corporate professionals.
We have already launched AI, VR, blockchain, and cloud working groups to tackle cutting-edge themes at the intersection of education and technology.
The following are some of the benefits of joining the Learning of Tomorrow Association:
・Participation in DiTT’s activities plus new initiatives as part of Learning of Tomorrow
・Expansion of the target market from IT adoption in elementary and secondary education (hundreds of billions of yen) to IT adoption across the entire education sector (trillions of yen)
・Gaining insight into global trends in cutting-edge technologies such as AI and IoT
・Leveraging a community of 31 industry associations (representing 8,000 member companies) and expert council members
The council member community mentioned last consists of powerful members leading the way in the intersection of education and technology in Japan.

Hiroshi Komiyama, Chairman of DiTT/Learning of Tomorrow, commented at the general meeting:
Describing this merger as a rare instance that incorporates all of DiTT’s goals and paves the way for expansion, he stated:
“In a society undergoing drastic change due to IT, even in education, there are no longer teachers. We need a place where people can learn from one another. Let’s create a ‘Learning of Tomorrow’ system that brings together people of all ages, genders, and nationalities.”
he remarked.
We would like to once again express our gratitude for your participation in DiTT activities, and we look forward to continuing to work together within the Learning of Tomorrow Association. We appreciate your continued support.
