Platinum Grand Prize Final Judging & Awards Ceremony

Platinum Grand Prize Final Judging & Awards Ceremony. I served as a judge again this year.
Starting this year, there have been some changes to the award names and judging criteria, making it easier for initiatives—even those still in the planning or conceptual stages—that show promise for future development to win awards.Congratulations to Yabu City, winner of the Grand Prize and the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award, and to Shelter Co., Ltd., winner of the Grand Prize and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award!
Another notable feature this year was that three of the 14 initiatives that made it to the finals—though they did not win the Grand Prize—focused on the theme of “Education” (Arakawa Ward, Gifu City, and Saitama Prefecture).
Hiroshi Komiyama, former President of the University of Tokyo and Chairman of the Platinum Grand Prize, Professor Hiroya Masuda, Executive Committee Chair of the Platinum Grand Prize, and Hiroyuki Yoshikawa, former President of the University of Tokyo and Chair of the Platinum Grand Prize Judging Committee, are all Chairmen or Council Members of the Learning of Tomorrow Association. Professor Komiyama has given us a new assignment: to establish an academic society within the Learning of Tomorrow Association.
