Learning of Tomorrow “Education × Blockchain Working Group” First Talk Event

The first talk event hosted by the Learning of Tomorrow Association’s Education × Blockchain Working Group.
Even though we announced it only a week ago—and only on Facebook—we received about 100 registrations, and I was surprised by the high level of interest.
Tian from NEO traveled from Shanghai, David and Luka from Imusify came from Germany, and Jack from Switcheo came from Singapore. Thank you all very much.
This working group plans to carry out the following activities related to blockchain in the future:
1. Exploring applications in education
2. Training of technical professionals
3. Improving technical performance in collaboration with the SFC Research Institute Blockchain Lab
We also plan to conduct proof-of-concept experiments in collaboration with NEO—which provides a decentralized blockchain platform—and the other guests who joined us today.
We received proposals regarding educational applications from three companies that provide services using NEO.
The proposal from Imusify, which facilitates the buying and selling of music and music crowdfunding, includes:
1. Management of academic records and credentials: Ensuring the security of graduation certificates and preventing falsification of academic credentials.
2. Sharing and trading of notes among students.
3. Crowdfunding: Securing funding for school activities.
4. Smart employment contracts for teachers: Reducing administrative and HR costs.Linking teacher evaluations to compensation.

O3, a developer of mobile wallets, and SwitchO, a creator of P2P exchanges, also proposed introducing these systems into schools.
Learning of Tomorrow hopes that these initiatives will lead to the creation of a learning ecosystem that extends beyond the confines of schools.
The common consensus among everyone was
that we do not yet fully understand how to utilize blockchain technology, and that—especially when it comes to education—we must all pool our wisdom and work together to figure it out going forward.
We received numerous expressions of interest in participating in discussions and pilot projects today, and we look forward to advancing these discussions and trials in collaboration with many companies and organizations in the future.
Thank you very much for participating today.
