Amendments to the School Education Act and the Copyright Act have been passed and enacted.
The efforts we have consistently advocated for have finally borne fruit, and
we are extremely pleased.

DiTT intends to continue leading the way in the digitization of education.
To move forward to the next step, we will work even more vigorously, together with the “Learning of Tomorrow Association,” which was launched recently.

In this issue, along with a report on DiTT’s activities,
we will also provide the latest information on ICT education.

■In May, a series of bills amending the Copyright Act, the School Education Act, and other laws were successively passed and enacted.
Under the amended Copyright Act, at a time when the widespread adoption of digital educational materials in schools is anticipated,
to enhance convenience regarding copyright for educational use while protecting the rights of copyright holders,
it has been decided to introduce a new system under which schools will pay compensation to copyright holders.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs report titled “Research on Compensation Systems and Licensing Environments in Other Countries Regarding ICT-Based Education,” for which DiTT provided research assistance, is also scheduled to be published shortly on the Agency for Cultural Affairs Copyright Division’s website.

■ A symposium marking the establishment of the “Learning of Tomorrow Association” was held on the 29th of last month.
Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Noda took the stage, and with so many attendees that some had to stand, the event concluded as a huge success.

The “Learning of Tomorrow Association,” representing 31 member organizations and 8,000 affiliated companies, is finally launching in full swing!
