- Programming for ALL @ Gifu University
Yesterday, Monday, May 7, we held a programming workshop at Gifu University as part of a course in the Faculty of Education. The participants were second- and fourth-year students from the Faculty of Education at Gifu University—future teachers.
We used the micro:bit as our teaching tool.
After learning the basics—such as creating animations that light up LEDs and controlling LEDs using button switches and accelerometers—the students created message cards using a light sensor.
The cards are designed so that when opened, the sensor reacts and a message appears on the micro:bit. In the short time available, the students created a variety of projects, such as self-introduction cards displaying their own names and cards conveying messages of gratitude to friends sitting next to them.
The students who participated this time will be involved in programming workshops held in Gifu City going forward. We’ll continue to keep an eye on programming education in Gifu City!
*This training session was held as part of “Programming for ALL,” a project to promote programming education jointly led by the NPO CANVAS and Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd.
