With digital textbooks now officially recognized as textbooks,
we are on track to achieve the mission DiTT has upheld since its founding; however,
new challenges are also emerging, such as addressing STEM education and adapting to new technologies like AI, IoT, big data, and blockchain.
DiTT’s activities have now reached a stage where we are moving on to the next phase.
We will be working with even greater enthusiasm than before, so
we hope you will continue to follow our progress.

In this report, along with an update on DiTT’s activities,
we will also provide the latest information on ICT education.

・COMPASS, provider of the AI-powered tablet-based educational tool “Qubena,”
introduced Qubena for math instruction during Sakuragaoka Junior High School’s spring intensive course in the 2016 academic year, and
announced that the grades of all students who participated in the course improved.

・There is a unique learning center called “Qubena Academy,” which provides cutting-edge education utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. It is operated by a venture company called COMPASS, which opened a cram school for middle school students in Hachioji in 2012. Qubena follows a format where students answer prepared questions,
—a format no different from typical digital learning materials. The difference lies in its use of AI.
