Symposium on the Establishment of Learning of Tomorrow

　We’d like to formally announce once again that we will be holding a symposium to mark the establishment of Learning of Tomorrow on Tuesday, May 29, starting at 4:00 p.m.
　As the number of executive committee members and board members has been growing, we’ll introduce them in more detail at a later date; for now, we’d like to briefly outline the projects Learning of Tomorrow will be undertaking.

Learning of Tomorrow: Proposed Activities

1. Policy Proposals
・Formulation and dissemination of proposals that consolidate social and policy recommendations from member organizations regarding education and human resource development

2. Design of New Learning and Human Resource Development Environments
・Design of future learning environments that transcend the boundaries of traditional schools, catering to everyone from preschoolers to working adults
・Pilot testing and implementation of new learning and human resource development environments
(Learner-centered environments combining in-person and online elements, with schools, tutoring centers, workplaces, and homes working in tandem)
　* Establishment of a committee of experts
　* Organization of a series of symposiums

3. Promotion of the Use of Cutting-Edge Technologies in Education
・Identifying challenges related to the introduction of cutting-edge technologies—such as AI, IoT, big data, VR/AR, and blockchain—into education
・Conducting pilot tests related to the above
　* Establishment of working groups for each of the above fields
　* Conducting a series of symposia
　
4. Promotion of ICT Education
・Promotion of educational digitization (provision of devices, networks, and teaching materials)
・Promotion of CS/ICT education
・Promotion of safe and secure ICT use by youth through literacy education, etc.

5. Support for ICT Education Businesses
・Support for overseas expansion
・Provision of opportunities for business pilot projects

6. Development and Retention of ICT, AI, and IoT Professionals
・Promoting collaboration between universities, professional colleges, vocational schools, and the industry
・Promoting the widespread adoption of certification programs, corporate training, e-learning, etc.

7. Revitalizing the Activities of Various Organizations and Providing Public Relations Support

8. Establishing Communication Channels with Partner Schools and Local Governments

    After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, he served as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab before founding the NPO CANVAS and the Learning of Tomorrow Association, a General Incorporated Association, and assuming the role of representative. He serves as an outside director for Matsuya Co., Ltd., Fuji Media Holdings, Inc., and Digital Garage, Inc.
    He has served on various government committees, including the Information and Communications Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as well as the NHK Central Broadcasting Program Council. He also serves as a director of the Digital Signage Consortium, among other roles. He holds a Ph.D. in Policy and Media.
    His publications include *Turning On Children’s Creativity!*, *What Are Smart Kids Doing on Their Smartphones?*, *The Forefront of Online Education in Japan: Considering Learning in the Post-COVID Era*,“What Is Programming Education? 45 Questions Parents Want to Know,” and “Declaration on Digital Education.” He has also provided supervision for numerous works, including “Ah, I See! Programming Education for Parents and Children Through Manga.”
