Congratulations to Hiroshi Komiyama, former President of the University of Tokyo, on winning the Dubai Knowledge Prize!

Congratulations to Hiroshi Komiyama, former President of the University of Tokyo, on winning the Dubai Knowledge Prize!
This is a global award presented in recognition of contributions to the creation and dissemination of knowledge.
Past recipients include Tim Berners-Lee, developer of the World Wide Web, and Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia.
In this era of the “100-Year Life,” I sincerely hope that Professor Komiyama will continue his outstanding work for another 30 years or so.
At the celebration, I had the opportunity to take my first group photo with my mentors, Professor Hiroshi Komiyama and Professor Katsumori Matsushima.
I first had the privilege of working with both professors during my senior year of college.
It all began when I helped organize, as a student, a joint symposium between the University of Tokyo’s Department of Engineering Overview and the MIT Media Lab, held at the Hongo campus.
Since then, they have continued to guide me, and I hold them in the highest regard.
Once again, congratulations!
In his remarks, Professor Komiyama said, “It would be a joy beyond my wildest dreams if this celebration could serve as a place for new encounters.” Today, in addition to having the opportunity to greet University of Tokyo President Gokami,
Principal Yanagisawa of Kaisei High School, Director Sakuma of the University of Tokyo Center for Research and Development of Medical and Welfare Engineering, and others—I had the chance to see teachers who supported me during my student days after such a long time and share updates on my life, which brought me immense joy.

I’ll also treasure the souvenir from the PyeongChang Olympics that Ms. Ogura gave me this morning♪ Thank you very much.
