- Launch of “Learning of Tomorrow”
We will establish an organization called “Learning of Tomorrow.”
The shortage of IT and AI professionals is becoming an increasingly serious problem, even as digital education and programming education are set to become mandatory even in elementary schools. This organization aims to foster a framework for public-private partnerships in education and technology, which includes retraining and continuing education for individuals ranging from preschoolers to adults.
The organization will promote research, awareness, and policy recommendations regarding technology and education, including IT human resource development policies and implementation policies for AI, big data, and blockchain in education. The organization will design education for the next generation.
The concept originated in a discussion with several industry organizations, but I am both surprised and honored that so many business associations and industry groups from the IT, software, and content sectors have voiced their support.
Below is an outline of “Learning of Tomorrow.”
■ Goals
Build a system of private-sector partnerships to advance research, awareness, and policy regarding IT and related technologies and education, including the introduction of IT human resource development policies and education on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain.
Offer new learning opportunities to all members of society, from preschool children to working adults.
■ Areas of Focus
• Future education design (proposal and creation of future-oriented learning environments)
• Promotion of the educational use of advanced technologies (artificial intelligence, virtual reality/augmented reality, blockchains, etc.)
• Promotion of ICT education (promotion of CS/ICT education, including computer programming, etc.)
• Support for the development of private-sector digital education (EdTech), etc.
■ Organizational Structure
• Membership consists of associations and nonprofit organizations in the IT and education industries.
• A council board will be established, centered around advisors from the “CS for All” programming education portal.
